The Sizzler was the first of James Ferguson’s custom long–range rifles, the forerunner of the .257 “Hot Tamale” and .30–.378 “Habanero.” Shooting a 140–grain bullet at MV 3,600 fps, the Sizzler’s performance is astounding. Zeroed at 200 yards, the Sizzler delivers bullets only 3.49 inches below the line of sight at 400 yards! At 500 yards it drops only 13.93 inches below the line of sight, enabling the shooter to aim at the top of the shoulder at deer sized game and still make killing shots. Exceeding 4,000 foot pounds of energy at muzzle, the Sizzler maintains a whopping 2,111 fpe at 500 yards. At 400 yards the Sizzler’s fps and fpe equal that of the 7mm–08’s performance at its muzzle. For .284 aficionados the Sizzler has no peers. On his first hunt with the Sizzler, Russell Thornberry, then editor in chief of Buckmasters Whitetail Magazine, reported killing a large caribou bull with a single shot at a measured 521 yards. He held his crosshairs on the bull’s shoulder and it crumpled in its tracks. Upholding the FCR tradition, the Sizzler offers the ultimate 7mm marriage of speed and accuracy.
All Ferguson Custom Rifles are designed to shoot custom hand loads, which are worked up for each individual rifle by James Ferguson. No two rifles are identical and factory rifles will not duplicate the performance of Ferguson’s Custom rifles, therefore the loading data are not published. However, the loading data for each individual rifle are given to owner to be loaded for his or her specific rifle.
